This is really exciting. Ever since I discovered all of the wonderful crochet blogs out there I've wanted to try writing one myself.
First, a little about myself. My name is Helen and I am a crochet and yarn-aholic! I have been wanting to try crochet for pretty much my whole life. My mum tried to teach me several times during my childhood and teenage years but I just never got the hang of it. She always said my sister was the crocheter and I was the knitter; she also taught me cross stitch and dressmaking, so you may occasionally see a post about these crafts that I still try to find time to do.
I finally bit the bullet around a year ago, buying the DK “A Little Course In Crochet” book one day while I was a little bored at work. I also picked up one of those magazines that come with yarn and a hook so I could make a start in my lunch break. Slowly and surely I followed the instructions and idiot-proof illustrations and suddenly I could crochet! Sadly my mum had passed away the previous year so I couldn’t share this exciting news with her but I’m sure she’s up there somewhere smiling at my triumph.
In this blog I will take you on my journey of improving my crochet skills and learning to become a designer. I will release new patterns as I create them. Please feel free to give me as much feedback as you like on these as it will help me improve.
I also plan to bring you reviews of any crochet products that I encounter as I go. I currently subscribe to the wonderful Crochet Society boxes curated by Sarah-Jayne at https://bellacococrochet.com/ , so I will bring you a monthly review of my experience with these boxes. In time I'm a YouTube channel where I will do an unboxing for you all to see how excited I get when I open my little box of treasure.
Well that’s all from me at the moment. I do hope you enjoy going on this journey with me.
Much Love,
Helen
